Where the work began….
The work started as a pipe dream, an idea from years ago that sat shelved in the back of my mind. It consisted of a Spotify playlist that was not listened to for years, memorabilia left collecting dust in the attic, and a hidden obsession buried deep in my heart.
How I got into MJ?
When Michael Jackson’s death was announced in summer of 2009, I had no idea who he was. Never a clue of the entertainer’s legacy, charisma, showmanship, or talent; I soon found out. Becoming obsessed with Michael Jackson (MJ), I researched all media pertaining to him, learned to imitate his moves, and fell in love with his music. I wanted to be just like him, someone who pushed the boundary, made his own path, and forever cemented himself as an icon. After learning all I could, I asked for an outfit similar to his to be fashioned and I was set on being a local MJ impersonator. Soon after appearences at taletn shows, weddings, and city events, I was introduced to my first dance class and the rest is history…
